Quran

As the sacred text of Islam pupils will be entitled to 4 lessons a week to help develop their reading, understanding and memorisation of the Quran. Pupils begin in Reception with the alphabet and progress by the end of Year 6 to a stage where they can read the Quran with good fluency. In terms of memorisation the end of Year 6 target is for pupils to have memorised at least 2 chapters of the Quran. Although many will memorise much more through the extra curricular clubs. Understanding of the Quran is presented in story format from throughout the Quran focusing on developing good manners and respect for all.
