Helping Your Child

Parents play a crucial role in supporting the school to help their child. Parents can help their child by regularly taking time to talk to their child about school, help them complete homework as well as ensuring their child is sent to school on time and in full uniform. Full details are given in the Home School Agreement which all parents must sign.

 

The development of and care for pupil well being is paramount at Al-Noor Primary. It is emphasised in our approach to Tarbiyyah (put simply 'nurturing') as well as the role all staff members are expected to play in our pupils' lives, not least that of a key role model. It is also served in our care over Safeguarding our pupils from any harm, or from any risk of harm, paying careful regard to our legal duties as well as working with and accessing the support of agencies such as those of the local authority (do see our Safeguarding policy for further details). Staff members all work towards creating an environment that promotes all-round pupil development and well being, focussing as much on the spiritual and emotional as the intellectual, physical, social, cultural and moral. School systems and leadership support school staff to ensure we all do everything we can to ensure all children's needs are met and we do all we can to ensure that Al-Noor Primary provides an excellent start to life for pupils to be happy, contributing, safe, productive Muslims and citizens.

 

Working as partners alongside parents is also key to our work so parental engagement is another crucial feature of our approach. Parental meetings, workshops and conferences as well as an active PTFA and opportunities to work inside the school supporting the learning of children are part of our work. We also use interventive meetings with parents when we have concerns about pupil well being or welfare to support parents and work with them to help pupils overcome difficulties they might experience. The school will do its best to acquire the services of outside agencies such as Children's Centres and the like in this pursuit and will also use the support of local authority CAF systems where ever parents feel it would be of benefit. Internally we offer enjoyable talking sessions with the school SENCO to pupils when we think this might benefit. All staff members are expected to use empathetic listening skills, persuasive and understanding reasoning and conversation to help children express their feelings, find their voice and solve their problems too.
