| A Message from the Headteacher It is certainly far from easy to send your child to a school that closely shares your own values, even though our children are our most treasured and loved "possessions" and investments. Despite the care with which we raise them, making individually informed choices about everything that might impinge on their developing personalities, we are often faced with limited choice when it comes to education and schooling. Ideally we seek their transfer to an environment that models the values their home environment has been carefully, purposefully built on. We deeply desire the same level of care for our children’s rabbaanee tarbiyyah - for the tendering and nurturing of their delicate personalities and sense of identity and self. We cherish the freedoms that we enjoy in society and acknowledge that it has allowed our spiritual and cultural growth. Yet we feel that the mixed moral messages in every facet of society around us give rise to an environment that is not conducive to the untainted, unhampered growth of eemaan and Godliness in our young. Whilst freedom and endless choice bring with them a huge variety of enjoyable and stimulating experiences, they also bring the need for appropriate alternatives and self-control, responsibility and accountability. These very adult qualities are not in automatic supply in little ones! Al-Noor is special because it is dynamic and brave enough to stand up and be counted for the alternative it offers in the realm of education. An educational environment that stands firm on deeply rooted moral values and yet strives to combine the best of what is offered by society too, to produce a generation that contributes positively to tomorrow’s society. Our school values inform everything we do and sets our sights on nothing short of excellence in all aspects of our school: in the moral, the academic and the professional. Our Islamic values foster a responsible and caring attitude in our pupils, towards fellow members of community, society and the world. This includes good manners towards parents, the elderly and neighbours as well as a deep respect and sense of duty towards the world we inhabit and the resources that we benefit from. We seek to instil in our pupils, a strong sense of purpose and the confidence to be proud of who they are. We believe this will equip them with the courage to stand up for what they believe in, help them to understand their role in their locality and the wider world, as well as make them ready to play their part and contribute responsibly towards it, helping it to progress towards its betterment. I am aware that these are goals that all schools share and am convinced that our value-base is an excellent point of reference and vehicle to achieve them. I strongly cherish that I am a part of an institution whose values so closely match those of my own. An institution that stands firmly on an informed, pro-active Islamic base that seeks, as a corollary of its beliefs, to develop itself into one of the very best. I would humbly like to request your support in our endeavour to fulfil our, what I am sure you’ll agree are, very noble aims. Sister Someera Butt Headteacher |
