Do you teach music?

As an Islamically faith-based school we carefully check all subjects by the guidelines of the Qur’an and Sunnah. It is for this reason that we do not promote learning through music. Do your children draw pictures of living animals? We endeavour to avoid this. Where it is unavoidable we try to use 'stick-images' or delete facial features on images.

Do you follow any particular fiqh/ Madhab?

Al-Noor is not part of any Islamic Organisation, party or Masjid. Therefore we do not propogate one particular Madhab over another. Allah says in the Qur’an: And the foremost to embrace Islam of the Muhajirin and the Ansar and also those who followed them exactly (in faith). Allah is well-pleased with them as they are well-pleased with Him. He has prepared for them Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise), to dwell therein forever. That is the supreme success (9:100)

How much of the day is used for Islamic education?

We have five hour-long lessons a day, making 25 lessons in a week. Four of these are used to teach Qur’an studies, four for Arabic and one for Islamic Studies. That works out to 1-2 Islamic lessons a day. We strive to present all of our curriculum from an Islamic perspective and imbibe an Islamic ethos throughout school life not least through our twice-weekly school assemblies and dhuhr jama’ah prayers.
